Villa Mitre se encarg\u00f3 de recibir a Canterbury de Nueva Zelanda en la Copa Patagonia, y lo hizo con una victoria por 74 a 61. El campe\u00f3n local no cont\u00f3 con Pineda y Juany G\u00f3mez, sin embargo fue superior de principio a fin. H\u00e9rman Banegas (15 y 9 rebotes), Sebasti\u00e1n Acosta (13 y 4 robos) y Nicol\u00e1s Renzi (9 m\u00e1s la marca a Stratford en el momento justo) fueron los m\u00e1s destacados en la jornada inicial. La atenci\u00f3n estaba puesta en ellos. La Copa Patagonia ya hab\u00eda mostrado por primera vez al b\u00e1squetbol minutos antes, con El Nacional – Olimpo y Napost\u00e1 – Estudiantes, pero una buena cantidad de p\u00fablico se acerc\u00f3 al estadio Hermanos Ciccioli para presenciar el duelo entre el campe\u00f3n bahiense, Villa Mitre, y el representativo de la provincia de Canterbury, de Nueva Zelanda.<\/p>\n

Tras el tradicional \u00abHaka\u00bb, y haciendo la salvedad que los j\u00f3venes neocelandeces se la pasaron en las \u00faltimas 48 horas m\u00e1s tiempo arriba de un avi\u00f3n que en suelo argentino, el tricolor fue superior de punta a punta, a\u00fan sin contar con David Pineda (licenciado por motivos familiares) y Juan Ignacio G\u00f3mez (de viaje).<\/p>\n

Un par de bombas (Renzi y Berdini) m\u00e1s la potencia de Banegas en la pintura pusieron a Villa Mitre arriba por 10 puntos al cierre del 1C. Bollo tuvo un buen ingreso y entre Susbielles y Diomedi (ambos refuerzos para esta temporada) se encargaron de mantener la ventaja pese a la l\u00f3gica rotaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Sin embargo, dos triples consecutivos de Hopgood le permitieron a Canterbury permanecer en partido, hasta que Joel Stratford, un escolta movedizo con buena mano, se encarg\u00f3 de ponerle calor al juego. Con ocho puntos consecutivos acerc\u00f3 a su equipo a 9 puntos (43-52) con 13 minutos por delante. Pero Ugolini mand\u00f3 a Renzi sobre el goleador, lo sec\u00f3 y le devolvi\u00f3 la tranquilidad al tricolor hasta el final.<\/p>\n
